Marketing Consulting

Focused engagements for specific challenges: a concept that needs sharpening, a menu that needs developing, a quiet season that needs explaining, a decision that needs evidence. Weeks, not retainers — an honest analysis, a clear recommendation, and a plan your team can act on. By people who consult on nothing but hospitality.

When You Need an Answer, Not a Retainer

Some problems don't need a subscription
A repositioning, a menu overhaul, a pricing question, a location decision — these are projects with an end. Forcing them into a monthly retainer pays for time, not answers. When a brand looks inconsistent or unprofessional, guests trust it less — they spend less, return less, and recommend it less. The room can be excellent and still lose the guest before the door.

Generalist consultants learn on your money.
Strategy firms without hospitality depth spend the first month discovering what a cover is. The invoice runs while the industry gets explained — and the recommendation still reads like a template. Most independent owners lack the time, budget and specialist expertise to run branding properly. The result is fragmented visuals, inconsistent communication and growth quietly left on the table.

Inside a venue, it is hard to see the venue.
Owners live too close to the concept to judge it coldly. The menu everyone worked on, the pricing set years ago, the story that made sense at opening — sometimes it takes an outside eye that knows the inside.

Answers you can act on

Every engagement follows the same discipline: audit what is, benchmark the market, and deliver a recommendation with an order of operations — what to change first, what to leave alone, what it should return. Concept and positioning, menu development and engineering, pricing, guest experience, marketing audits and turnaround plans. Fixed scope, fixed timeline, and a document your team can execute with or without us.

FAQ

Before You Ask

What kinds of projects does Date consult on?

Concept development and repositioning, menu development and menu engineering, pricing strategy, marketing and brand audits, guest experience reviews, location and expansion decisions, and turnaround plans for venues that have gone quiet. If it is a hospitality question, it has probably crossed this desk.

How is consulting different from your monthly services?

Consulting is a project with an end: a defined question, a fixed scope and a delivered answer. Monthly services run the marketing; consulting decides what the marketing — or the venue itself — should do. Many partnerships begin with a consulting engagement.

Can you help develop or re-engineer our menu?

Yes. Menu work sits where the kitchen meets the numbers: what earns its place, what the pricing says about the room, how the layout steers the order. We work with the chef, not around them — the result is theirs to cook and yours to profit from.

What do we receive at the end?

A written analysis and recommendation with a clear order of operations: what to change first, what it requires, and what it should return. Practical enough for your team to execute alone — though many choose to execute it with the house.

How long does an engagement take?

Typically two to six weeks depending on scope, a focused audit sits at the short end, a full concept or turnaround at the long. Timeline and scope are fixed before we begin, so there are no open meters.

Do you consult for hotels and groups as well as restaurants?

Yes. Hotels, hotel groups, chains and multi-location operators, alongside independent restaurants, cafés and bars. The questions differ by format; the discipline of answering them does not.
